Engine Controller Unit (ECU), the core component of an electronically controlled vehicle, constantly monitors and controls the normal operations of the engine. ECU tests and calculates the air-fuel mixture ratio and engine ignition advance angle based on the data input from multiple sensors, including MAP sensor, throttle position sensor, air temperature sensor, and oxygen sensor, etc. It monitors and controls the engine’s fuel supply, fuel injection timing, ignition closing angle, engine idling operation and other vehicle accessory systems in real time to maintain the best energy conversion rate.
ECU has complex structures and is exposed to rugged environments during operation, so it needs special protection. For example, due to frequent temperature changes in the working area caused by the heat dissipation of the controller’s electronic components, it is necessary to use venting products, which not only dissipate heat, but also equalize pressure. Specific requirements for venting products are as follows:
A stable ECU is the basis for normal engine operation. IPRO weldable vent, featuring large air permeability, high IP rating, high welding strength, can effectively improve the stability of ECU, with multiple options available for different application scenarios. For example, pure ePTFE weldable vent is composed of a sandwich structure, with supporting layer in the middle and ePTFE on either side. With high welding strength and heat resistance (>250℃), stable performance and large air permeability, it is excellent for applications under extreme working conditions.
In addition, in the pre-development phase of weldable vent, based on clients’ specific requirements on casing materials, IPRO can provide one-stop services including customized welding specifications and membrane selection advice, to eliminate their worries.
